WORKSHOP: CIVIC PARTICIPATION

Workshop: Empowering Civic Participation in Open Museum Construction

The Open Museum introduces an innovative approach to engaging the public with art, providing a unique space for both contemplation and interaction. This project's core objective is to transfer decision-making authority from conventional institutions to individuals, thereby promoting empowerment and encouraging active participation. In alignment with this vision, the workshop, titled "Empowering Civic Participation in Open Museum Construction," embarks on a collaborative journey led by the arts collective N55. This endeavor invites individuals interested in participating to unite in constructing the Open Museum, a portable exhibition space designed to showcase a diverse array of case study artworks from the PERCEIVE project.

This workshop, led by N55, Arthur Clay, the HSLU Project team, and participating students, focuses on constructing the Open Museum. It introduces participants to XYZ Node methodologies and materials, emphasizing integration and accessibility. HSLU is responsible for organizing the workshop and providing participants. Comprehensive documentation will cover workshop details, materials, tools, space, and infrastructure. An introductory presentation will communicate the Open Museum's design through texts, sketches, and 3D models to ensure all participants have a clear understanding. Working from detailed construction plans for the Open Museum, participants will collaboratively build it step by step and witness its transformation into an all-inclusive structure. This structure will incorporate the integration of the PERCEIVE case study artworks, Born Digital Artworks, and, most importantly, socio-cultural elements intended for dining, relaxation, and workspace purposes.

This workshop is designed to be an immersive hands-on experience. N55, Arthur Clay, the HSLU team, and students will actively participate in constructing the Open Museum, following the principles of XYZ Nodes. This workshop aims to foster integration and accessibility and includes the presentation of tools, participant requirements, a detailed agenda, and a general workshop description.Through these collaborative efforts, the Open Museum project becomes a symbol of civic participation and innovation, reshaping the boundaries of art exhibition and public engagement.
