ABOUT
The Open Museum Sketch Book is a collection of
narrative
design sketches that offers insights into strategies for navigating
experiences
with Cultural Heritage through the five scenarios of the PERCEIVE
project: To illustrate these concepts, the Sketch Book presents the
methodologies
employed in the Open Space Museum, specifically designed to meaningfully
engage
the public and foster an authentic connection between them and the
content they
are engaging with.
The sketchbook is organized into chapter-like sections called channels. Unlike traditional chapters, which begin and end before the next one starts, these channels flow continuously throughout the length of the book. The channels cover all of the key aspects of the design elements such as the Case Study Elements, Engagement Applications, and, of course, the Space Frame Design. However these are not all, channels for Color and Reflection, as well as Color Translation are still under development.
The Case Study Elements are showcased through hand-drawn sketches paired with Key Pages that list the artworks used and highlight the features of each element. This section emphasizes creative approaches and the innovative use of media to present artworks in a way that deeply resonates with viewers, forging a profound and meaningful connection between the viewers and the works. .
Following this, The Chroma Elements introduce the Engagement Applications designed for each of the Case Study Elements. Here, the channel provides insights into each Engagement App's design, including QR codes that link readers to wireframes of these applications. This feature allows readers to glimpse how the experience of visiting the Open Museum extends into the digital realm.
Next, the Space Frame Design channel delves into the structural morphology developed by the artists' collective n55 for the Open Space Museum. This section explores the extrusion framework they created using aluminum alloy square tubes, featuring a unique connection system that enables quick and easy assembly of the space frame elements.
Channels for Color and Reflection and Color Translation are currently in development, and details will be provided as they become available.
To provide a novel method for the reader to view the book, a special book stand was developed to match the book's way of disclosing information through channels. The stand consists of three elements, allowing the reader to turn the page over to the left or to the right, creating a reading area of three pages. This design not only presents the information effectively but also helps the reader understand how the information from each of the channels combines
